History

Saint John School was founded by principal Hilda Alvarez de Geraldino, in 1992, under the name "Mi Escuelita". The school originated at a house located on Francisco Richiez Ducoudray street, in the city of La Romana, with a student population of 90 children ages 2 through 5. Shortly after its inaugural year, due to high demand, the institution moved to a larger location on Calle Altagracia.

When this first group of children completed the preschool levels, at the request of the parents, the decision was made to incorporate one grade of primary school every year, until this new level was completed. Overtime, the parents' satisfaction and demand, motivated us to embark on Secondary level education. After making this decision, the school felt compelled to rent a second location on Altagracia Street until eventually the construction of our current campus in Buena Vista Norte, began in 2002.

Saint John School is the result of many combined desires and efforts, people from different extracts of society who believed in and supported this project from the beginning. The dedication and passion of all the teachers who have been part of our history, the administrative staff, who every day strive to provide diligent and efficient service, and all the support staff, who have always been willing and ready to care for our school campus. This group of people are the ones who, year after year, have allowed us to fulfill our objectives of educating children and youths from all over the world. This way, we are able to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a constantly changing society.

Undoubtedly, the most rewarding part of this work are the students. There have been so many joys and anecdotes during these 30 years and throughout this journey. The students and graduates have cultivated a sense of belonging, familiarity, fraternity and pride in being part of the Saint John family.o largo de este trayecto. Los alumnos y egresados, han cultivado un sentido de pertenencia, familiaridad, fraternidad y orgullo de ser parte de esta familia Saint John.
